Implication details
Claim: If a category has binary products and is locally cartesian closed, then it has pullback-stable regular epimorphisms.
Proof: Let be a regular epimorphism in a locally cartesian closed category, and let be any morphism. We may lift to a morphism in by equipping with the structure morphism and with the structure morphism . It is straightforward to check that is also a regular epimorphism in . Since the base change functor is a left adjoint, it preserves regular epimorphisms. Hence the morphism induced by is a regular epimorphism in . Finally, the underlying morphism in is a regular epimorphism because the forgetful functor has a right adjoint, mapping to , and therefore preserves regular epimorphisms.
Remark: The result is not true without the assumption that binary products exist, see MSE/5150479.
